These names move. If you've got them, bring them.

Not everything in your closet is worth consigning. Save yourself the trip — leave these behind.

  Worn-out fast fashion
  Shein, Temu, and similar brands rarely find buyers on resale platforms — low perceived value, high competition.
• ✕
  Stained, damaged, or heavily pilled items
  Stains, broken zippers, significant pilling, or missing buttons are deal-breakers for buyers. These belong in textile recycling, not consignment.

  Knockoffs & unauthorized replicas
  Counterfeit items violate platform policies on Depop, Poshmark, and eBay and can result in account suspension. We can't accept them.

  Heavily worn basics
  Stretched-out leggings, faded undershirts, and single-season trend pieces from big-box stores rarely recoup enough to justify listing fees. Donate those instead.

  Items with strong odors
  Cigarette smoke, mildew, or heavy perfume won't survive a listing — buyers return odorous items immediately. Wash before considering consignment.

Listings with clean, photo-ready items get more views, better prices, and sell faster. Ten minutes of prep can meaningfully increase your payout.

   Wash & de-lint Run items through the wash on a gentle cycle. Once dry, use a lint roller or fabric shaver — pilling is the #1 reason buyers pass on secondhand knits.

   Check all the pockets Receipts, gum wrappers, and hair ties tucked inside make listings look sloppy and can surprise buyers. A 30-second pocket check is worth it.

   Steam or fold neatly We photograph everything ourselves, but wrinkle-free items photograph better from every angle. Even folding neatly in the bag helps.

   Note any flaws honestly A small mark on an interior seam? A faint scuff on a shoe? Flag it on a sticky note so we can disclose it accurately. Honesty protects your rating and ours.

   Keep tags on where possible NWT (new with tags) or NWOT (new without tags) listings earn noticeably more. If you've never worn something and still have the tag, leave it on.

Check off each step as you go. Print this page and keep it on your bed while you sort — it makes the whole process faster.

• Pull everything you haven't worn in 12 months If you didn't reach for it in a full year — through every season — you probably won't. Get it out of the closet and into the sort pile.
• Sort into three piles: sell / donate / toss Sell = good condition, sellable brand or category. Donate = decent but not resale-worthy. Toss / recycle = damaged, stained, or beyond wear.
• Cross-check your "sell" pile against the hot-brand & category list above Anything from a recognized brand or sought-after category goes to the front of your bag. Unknown brands in great condition are still worth bringing.
• Remove anything stained, damaged, or heavily pilled Be honest with yourself here — buyers are unforgiving about condition. Move these to the donate or toss piles.
• Wash & de-lint your sell items One wash cycle + a pass with a lint roller makes a visible difference in listing photos and final sale price.
• Check every pocket Empty them all. While you're at it, check for loose threads, missing buttons, or broken hardware you might have forgotten about.
• Leave original tags on (if unworn) NWT and NWOT items command a premium. Don't remove tags from anything you haven't worn.
• Note any minor flaws on a sticky note Small scuff on a boot? Interior mark on a jacket lining? Write it down so we can disclose it accurately in the listing.
• Bag it up — clean items only Pack your sell pile into a clean bag or box, separated from the donate pile. Label it with your name if possible.
